Harlan Penn (Scenic Designer) Is a graduate of Florida A & M University (BS Theatre) and the North Carolina School of the Arts (MFA Scenic Design). Favorite Scenic design credits include: Gem of the Ocean, Blues for an Alabama Sky, Jar the Floor, The Piano Lesson, Jitney, Nicholas Nickleby, Blacken the Bubble, Flyin’ West, Dreamgirls, For Colored Girls, King Hedley, Chicago, Ain’t Misbehavin and Extremities to name a few. Mr. Penn currently teaches at Hillcrest High School where he teaches technical theatre and stage design in Jamaica, NY. Mr. Penn is thrilled to be a part of this historic production.
Michael Cole(Lighting Designer) is a lighting designer in New York City. He originally comes from Dallas Texas where he has worked in such venues as The Dallas Theatre Center, The Rose Marine Theatre, and Dallas Children’s Theatre. He has worked in many theaters around the U.S. and Canada while staying based in the city. Recent credits include Anything Goes, The Mikado (Nightingale Prod.), Rhythm in Motion (ATDF), A Line in The Sand, 50 Words, (Gene Frankel), Exit 27 (Sanguine Theatricals), Les Miserables, The Great American Tailer Park Musical (CM Performing Arts Center), A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Queens Players), FreeFall (Theatre for a New Generation), The Pavilion (Sanguine Theatricals), Wasps (Columbia University), and Barcode (Fringe 2013). Michael has also served as the Assistant Lighting Designer for The Lion (MTC), Marathon Cadenzas (Paul Taylor Dance) Innovations (National Ballet of Canada), 27, Dance of the Carmelites (Opera of St. Louis). www.theshadowlight.net
Kevin Caesar Handy (Conductor) is a Composer, Arranger, and Music Educator. He is a Graduate of North Carolina A&T State University with a Bachelors of Science in Music Education. He served as Assistant Director of University Bands at Winston Salem State University and Johnson C. Smith University (Charlotte).He is owner/Proprietor of CAESAR PUBLICATIONS. It is a company specializing in music compositions/arrangements for performance and educational applications. He is providing Sheet music for over 75 University and High School Music Ensembles across the country.As a performing artist, Caesar performs on Woodwinds, Brass winds, Keyboards, & Vocals. In addition, he is the owner and proprietor of Caesar Sound— a company providing Pro Audio Equipment for Live Music applications. He is currently working on Scores for the soon to be released movie “Drum Line 2” and a Minister of Music at Unity Christian Center in Greensboro North Carolina.
Dietrice A Bolden (Assistant Director) is the Managing Director and Associate Artistic Director for the Oscar/Grammy nominated Impact Repertory Theatre. She has been the Stage manager and Assistant Director for several shows including Miguel Pinero’s “Short Eyes” (Riverside Theater), Jamal Joseph’s “30 Days and a Wake up” (Columbia University) and Impact’s Original play “Peace Warriors” (Snapple Theater) just to name a few. She also is landed roles in numerous plays and musicals including Dainel Beaty’s Adelco Award nominated off Broadway play “Tearing Down the Walls”.
Judy Groover (Publicist) is an accomplished PR professional with over 20 years’ expertise in marketing, media relations, promotions and publicity to include developing and executing all aspects of public outreach campaigns to increase media exposure and support strategic marketing initiatives. She has significant experience in music entertainment industry working as consultant, publicist, promoter, artist manager, talent scout, and freelance photographer. She is a graduate of Howard University with a Bachelors of Arts degree and co-owner of Sweet Finesse Entertainment and Rock Media Concepts. www.sweetfinesse.com
Alicia Smith(Company Manager) is co-owner of Sweet Finesse Entertainment and Rock Media Concepts, and is a graduate of Morgan State University where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems. She has experience in web design, graphic design, marketing, system and database development, and serves on a variety IT committees. She has over 15 years of experience in management and 10 years of consulting experience in the entertainment and commercial industry. She formerly sat on the board of directors as Senior Vice President of The Music Group Associates and sits on the Corporate IT Committee of Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ of Apostolic Faith, Inc.
