Every 2 minutes, another American is sexually assaulted. According to the U.S. Department of Justice’s National Crime Victimization Survey –there is an average of 237,868 victims (age 12 or older) of rape and sexual assault each year. Playwright/Composer Tyrone Stanley takes an ugly memory of sexual abuse and turns it into a beautiful musical of hope and healing with this new, American stage phenomenon, called SOUL ON FIRE THE MUSICAL.

This musical takes audiences into the mind of a young girl who decides to take matters into her own hands when justice refuses to address the crime that has shattered her life. Broken and desperate, Kisha must prove her story is true: She was raped by a popular and socially prominent figure that, in the eyes of her family and utopian community, can do no wrong. The story of Kisha is the story of many who never tell. Sexual Assault is a national and global crisis. Unreported and unprosecuted rape is a major threat to our society. The statistics are staggering. Soul on Fire can help those who have suffered from the hands of abuse – BREAK THE SILENCE!

SOUL ON FIRE THE MUSICAL addresses the societal values placed upon a small group of people who are not what they seem and call themselves “one big family.” SOUL ON FIRE is a tale of hope with a pathway to healing for all who have endured the tragedy and aftermath of rape and other abuse, as well as families and communities who feel hopeless and outside the realm of true justice with catharsis. The music infuses rich and diverse genres with cutting-edge dialogue as it explores the powers of the spirit realm through the mind of a young woman scorned. It is the battle of good and evil; of angels and demons; the choice of love versus hate; of forgiveness and redemption; forbidden love; and of secrets and lies, all woven in a web of hypocrisy and devious ambition.
